about us

Caravan Pacific is a company dedicated to crafting classic American lighting.

Inspired by the sleek craftsmanship of the midcentury era, our designs meld the raw beauty of clay and wood with a passion for modern shapes and style.

Our goal is to create beautiful lighting that creates a warm glow to live by.

By using quality materials, expert craftsmanship and inspired design, we strive to make lighting and home goods that endure the test of time and are worthy of being passed on to future generations.

our process

Each of our products is handcrafted and assembled in Portland, Oregon by a team of professional artisans.  The lumber we use is FSC-certified and honed to a smooth finish through the expertise of our wood turners.  Durable stoneware is skillfully poured by hand and glazed in a variety of colors.  Lampshades made of high-grade linen add warmth and texture, and are produced by a business that has been in operation in the USA since the 1940s.  With every lamp and product that we design, we aim to create an item that will be cherished as much as it is used, while allowing the beauty of our materials and craftsmanship to shine through.

founding

A former television editor, Shannon Guirl turned to wood turning and ceramics to cure a creative itch and found a new passion in designing midcentury lighting.  With the aid of a successful Kickstarter campaign and a skilled team of craftspeople in Portland, she was able to launch her business, Caravan Pacific.  She looks forward to creating more lighting designs (and a lot of sawdust) in the future.
