Beam & Anchor

It’s pretty awe-inspiring when a dream becomes reality.  This weekend marks the debut of a special space in Portland, Beam & Anchor.   A labor of love by local artist Jocelyn and woodworker Robert Rahm (pictured), their new shop houses exquisite vintage finds alongside a finely curated selection of furniture and goods made by area makers.

Upstairs, saws buzz and sewing machines hum as woodworkers and makers create furniture, leather goods, soap and many of the other items found in the shop.  (Pictured below, Bren Reis of Earthbound Industries and Ben Klebba of Phloem Studio.)

When I first arrived in Portland and was just embarking on the rocky road of creating my own business, I was lucky to meet Jocelyn and Robert just as they were starting theirs.  I couldn’t have befriended two warmer people.  The generosity and kindness they extend to everyone they meet is a rare and wonderful thing and I’m sure will be felt by anyone who enters their new shop.
